Tons of fun with Ross Burach!

Truck Full of Ducks by Ross Burach

If you haven’t already discovered author and illustrator Ross Burach, you are in for oodles of fun! Ross Burach is a fantastic children’s picture book author whose stories and illustrations make me snort with joy!

One of my favorite books of his is Truck Full of Ducks. Now, what do you think about when you see this title? Maybe some ducks just chillin’ in a truck right? Well these ducks in this truck are hilarious ducks! They work for a burly dog who makes duck deliveries because you know who wouldn’t want the help of a duck or two? What do ducks in a truck do exactly then? They drink lots and lots of “Bladder Buster”. Yes, you heard me right! These ducks who are all stuck on a truck each helped themselves to a shared Dunkin’ Donuts looking plastic cup full of “Bladder Buster” and wouldn’t you know-they all have to wee! Bumpy ride ensues. We learn that one of the ducks accidentally eats the delivery directions...so just who called for a truck full of ducks? Well in order to find out, the crew drives through town and meets all kinds of trucks such as a dump truck and an ice cream truck, but not the customer who called for a truck full of ducks!

Who could it be?!

Burach takes us for a ride to find out with his colorful, zany illustrations and a ton of opportunities for laughs! This book is great for rhyming and learning about different kinds of transportation. The best part though is that it’s a hoot to read aloud (you can put on your best pirate and surfer shark accents!) and point out to your kids all of the wild things the ducks and all of the townsfolk are doing.

For a wonderful enhancement to this book you’ve gotta check out this video: Storytime with Ryan and Craig (Isn’t it the best!?)

Don’t be surprised if this book makes you and your family snort aloud too!

Here are some other Ross Burach gems:

Just how long does it take for a caterpillar to become a butterfly? It better be quick!

This one is great for introducing babies and toddlers to numbers and counting. Tip-if you can read this aloud without tripping over any of the words consider yourself a tongue-twister-extraordinaire!
